What platforms does Unit support? Is there a Mac, Web, or Android version?

Unit is built natively for the Apple ecosystem - iPhone, iPad and Mac - and syncs across all of them through your iCloud. There are no plans for a Web or Android version: Unit is designed to be fully Apple-native, so your data stays inside the Apple ecosystem and never goes to a third-party server.

How does sync work?

Unit syncs through your private iCloud, the same way Apple Notes does. Your notes, tasks and files live on your device and in your iCloud account - they never touch our servers. Turn on iCloud sync and everything stays up to date across your iPhone, iPad and Mac automatically, with you in control of your own data.

Unit basic functionality is free without any trial period. It includes a lot of great features but limits the number of elements that the user can use. Unit also offers a paid plan - Unit Plus, that unlocks some additional great features.

Do I need an account or sign-in to use Unit?

Accepted Answer

No. Unit works fully from the first launch with no account and no sign-in. Your notes are stored locally on your device, and if you want them on your other devices you turn on iCloud sync. We no longer run our own servers or user accounts, so there is nothing to sign up for.

How do I import my Unit Cloud data into iCloud?

In the app, go to Settings and tap 'Import Backup from Unit Cloud'. Your notes, tasks and files are copied into your library and, if you have iCloud sync turned on, synced to your other devices. This option is available for a limited time while we retire Unit Cloud.

I had Unit Cloud premium - what happens to my subscription?

Your Unit Plus subscription is unaffected. Subscriptions are managed through your App Store account, not Unit Cloud, so all your Plus features keep working and there is nothing you need to do.

When is Unit Cloud being shut down?

Accepted Answer

Unit Cloud will be shut down on 1 September 2026. Until then, you can import your data into iCloud at any time from Settings. After that date Unit Cloud will be retired completely, so please import your notes before then to make sure nothing is lost.

How do I delete my data?

Accepted Answer

Your data lives on your device and in your iCloud, so you are always in control. To remove it, delete your notes in the app or remove Unit's data from iCloud in iOS Settings. If you previously used Unit Cloud and want the data from our old servers deleted, email us at support@unit.app.

This is one of Unit's most unique features - very few note-taking apps support true hierarchical nesting.

Unit can save entire web pages for offline reading directly inside your notes. When you clip a page, the full content is saved - not just a bookmark or URL. This means you can read saved articles even without internet, and the content survives even if the original website goes down.
